Dana is a spectacular village that is 500 years old. Itenjoys a breath-taking view over Wadi Dana or Dananatural reserve and Wadi Araba. Dana reserve is the biggest reserve in Jordan and the richest as well, asit covers 320 kilometer squared and contains 2 major geographical zones and 4 vegetation zones. You will meet our driver at the hotel lobby between 6 a.m.–8 a.m (your exact timing will be provided by
the support team, one day before the tour) after the entail greetings, you start your journey toward Dana about 2:30hrs drive.
Dana is a series of canyons or wadis and mountains, which supports the idea of hiking trails suitable for both the amateur and the professional, adventurous, hikers. They vary from 1-hour short circuits to several days-hikes with overnight camping. Some trails can be hiked without a guide due to the fact that there are rocks and stones to mark the route, but others cannot. The guides are usually very helpful during a hike so that you could learn about the geology, biodiversity, wildlife, and history of the area.
The following are the different kinds of hikes that you can choose from:
- Easy trails : it is a one-hour visit to the viewpoints above Dana village like the gardens, the jam
factory, the soap, silver and fruit workshops.
- Campsite trails : it is either a 2-hour tour around the campsite area, which is a lovely place for
birdwatchers as it is the major migratory routes between Asia, Europe and Africa, or a long hike
for 14 km (5 hours) from Dana to Feynan.
- Moderate trails : it is a 16-km (6 hours) hike from D
ana to Feynan visiting the copper mines
After a day exploring Dana, time to return back to Aqaba, the drive once again will be around 2:30hrs
