The Baptism site of Jesus Christ, Bethany (not to be confused with the Jerusalem village Bethany, where Lazarus was raised from the dead) lies on the River Jordan, just 15 minutes north of the Dead Sea. This site holds great significance for Christians and thousands of them gather every year in January for the feast of Epiphany.
We take you down to over 400 metres below sea level to one of the world’s very first spa resorts. Used by kings of ancient civilizations, the Dead Sea is still to this day, a popular place for people to escape the daily grind with its abundant source of natural therapies. Prepare yourself for a relaxing day filled with carelessly floating in its high saline waters; lathering yourself with mineral-rich mud; and reading your favourite magazine by its sparkling shores.
Accompanied by your own private driver; you’ll enjoy tailored attention on your private tour so you can focus your mind on exploring this unforgettable two sites.

“Then Jesus came from Galilee to Jordan to be baptised by John” (Matthew 3:13)

We pick you up from your hotel and take a short 40-minute drive to Bethany. First, we stop by the visitor centre as it is a border zone; only shuttle buses are allowed entry, which run every half-hour. You will briefly pass by Mar Elias where it is believed that Prophet Elijah was born and rose to heaven in a whirlwind.
You will then be driven closer to the Jordan River and the tour continues on foot, bypassing a small byzantine church. Close by is the site where Jesus was believed to be baptised by John.
The walking trail will eventually lead you to the Jordan River. The walking tour will take approximately 90 minutes accompanied by a guide and audio guide that is included in the ticket fee.
We continue our journey by descending quickly towards the lowest point on earth (423 metres below sea level).
Dead Sea: words can hardly describe this magnificent place, being one of the world’s first health resorts for kings like Herod the Great and many others.
Today all you have to do is relax and float on your back, read your favourite magazine and take a selfie for your facebook profile.
Things to consider:
When sun baking at the Dead Sea, it is popular for guests to cover themselves with mud and forget to use any sun protection. The sun’s harmful UV rays are filtered due to the high atmospheric pressure in the area, therefore we’d like all our guests to be careful so that they can enjoy their entire experience.
After a full day exploring Bethany & the dead sea, time to return back to Amman, the drive once again will be around 1:00 hr.
